If it’s ideas and inspiration for the garden you're after, then don't miss the flower and garden show. It's a hotbed of horticultural activity which will get green-fingers itching to get into the garden.

Flower arrangers are drawing inspiration from London 2012, taking the Olympic Games as their theme. With classes such as Going for Gold, Welcome to England, Overseas Visitors, Opening Ceremony and Olympic Flame, there is sure to be breath-taking creativity on display.

Fermoy's Garden Centre in Newton Abbot is bringing the world's biggest spade to the marquee.  The Yeoman Giant Spade is touring the country and raising  a ‘hole load of cash’ for the Greenfingers Charity - the charity that’s dedicated to creating magical gardens for children’s hospices around the UK.

And don't miss Fermoy's schools' 'garden in a wheelbarrow competition'. Youngsters have been busy planting vegetables in their barrows and need the votes of visitors to try and secure the prizes donated by Fermoy's.

After the County Show the winning wheelbarrow will be hitched to the back of the bike owned by  garden centre director Alan Murdoch, who will ride to Chelsea Flower Show via lots of garden centres en route. He's raising awareness and money for the charities Greenfingers and Gardening Leave.

This year the flower and garden show is bigger than ever to accommodate a huge selection of exhibitors and a new small café, where visitors can enjoy light refreshments in inspirational surroundings.
