Food & Drink

Tuck into a slice of Devon with a selection from the many stalls selling a fabulous range of local food and drink. Sumptuous local dishes and delicious beverages are ready to tantalise the taste buds at the huge county celebration.

Inside the Food & Drink Pavilion visitors can shop for a meal or stock up the larder with the huge range of delicious goods and the knowledge that they are getting tremendous tasting produce which is supporting the local economy and benefiting the environment.

Visitors are invited ‘to taste and try before you buy’ and because there is such a great selection of local producers all in the one place it makes shopping local and seasonal a real pleasure. There’s local meat, vegetables, honey, cheeses and dairy products as well as puddings and pies, teas and cordials and preserves and ice-creams, to name but a few.

On Thursday Devon chocolatier Willie Harcourt-Cooze will be launching two new products and doing tastings on the Waitrose stand inside the Pavilion.

At one end of the huge pavilion is a cookery demonstration kitchen where guest chefs cook up a mouth-watering selection of dishes based on local ingredients.

On Thursday the demonstrations are provided by chefs from Jack in the Green pub near Exeter.

On Friday, Brend Hotels with their executive chef Dez Tuland take to the stage.

Also, BBC MasterChef: The Professionals winner, Anton Piotrowski, will be in the kitchen after judging the sizzling Spring Sausage Competition and appearing in Darts Farm Teepees.  Anton is pictured above in his kitchen.

“I want to fly the flag for Devon!”  said Anton who is the head chef of his pub, The Treby Arms near Plymouth. “The county’s combination of ingredients allows chefs to use their imagination and create fantastic dishes. Plus the sun shines more in Devon than Cornwall!”

On Saturday it is the turn of the Devon Federation of Young Farmers to compete in their version of Ready, Steady, Cook.

During the Show last year’s President and celebrated Devon dairy farmer and cheese maker, Mary Quicke of Quickes Traditional, will hold a cheese presentation and talk about the qualities of various local cheeses.
