There are three packed days of competition for both professional and amateur riders at the Devon County Show.
The huge variety of competition ranges from show jumping to scurry driving, the inter-hunt relay, private driving and the Concourse D’elegance.
Horses also span the scale from elegant Arabs to hunters, cobs, small Dartmoor and Exmoor ponies and heavy horses.
Top quality show jumpers are expected to be out in force as well as young amateurs.
New this year is an exciting competition for young amateur riders who will get a chance to appear in the main ring at a major show.British Show Jumping is bringing its South West Junior Academy to the Devon County Show. There will be four teams each comprising of four young riders from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset. The event is sponsored by Westexe Forklifts Ltd.
Anne Newbery, South West Development Officer, British Showjumping, added: “Being a member of a British Showjumping Academy, and part of an Academy team, helps to encourage camaraderie and fun while developing a competitive edge. The riders involved and British Showjumping are thrilled to be part of this exciting initiative and are looking forward to being part of this year’s Devon County Show.”
