Brend Hotels press release: Brend Hotels promote local food
13 May 2011
Brend Hotels will again be one of the major sponsors of this year’s Devon County Show and will play a leading role in promoting local food.
The family-run business, based in Barnstaple, has nine hotels and two restaurants in Devon.
For the second year running, Brend Hotels will provide the Stewards Supper, with a menu featuring Devon beef, mushroom and ale pie; English egg custard and quince honey tart and local cheeses.
The menu has been created by Brend Hotels award-winning Group Development Chef, Dez Turland, who is also running the cookery demonstrations in the Food Tent on Friday, 20th May.
Dez will be joined on the stage by a number of Brend chefs, including Danny Downs from The Saunton Sands Hotel in north Devon. Danny will be preparing a modern version of the classic dish, Sole Veronique, which formed part of the winning menu from The Brend Chef of the Year competition.
Also appearing again will be budding young chef, Toby Mosedale, who wowed the audience at last year’s show. Sixteen-year-old Toby, from Chulmleigh, has won a prestigious scholarship under chef Michel Roux junior, at the three Michelin-starred Le Gavroche restaurant in London.
Ends.
