Stars turn out for the Show
20 May 2011
Celebrity spotters have had a field day at today’s Devon County Show.
The Show’s reputation as a great day out for all the family with something to suit everyone has brought some of TV’s top talent to Westpoint.
Channel 4’s Kirsty Allsopp knows a thing or two about location, location, location and has chosen the Show for her latest challenge. She’s been showing off her diverse talents from shearing sheep to baking cakes.
The BBC have been out in force too and among the famous faces here today are Adam Henson from the popular Countryfile show and Aled Jones from Escape to the Country plus a crew from Food Fighters.
Marcus Mumford, lead singer of top band Mumford & Sons, has also been spotted enjoying the delights of Devon’s big day out.
Add in some familiar local faces from BBC Spotlight and ITV Westcountry plus a team preparing for the next series of Big Brother and it’s been quite a star-studded occasion.
But it’s the Show itself that is the real star as first day results from our independent, third party, market research team proves.
Eighty per cent of visitors are very happy with what the show offers and a massive 98 per cent say they will recommend it to others.
In these tough economic times, only 17 per cent said they would like to see the price reduced and more than 80 per cent said they were likely to come back next year.
Organisers work tirelessly to better the Show experience for visitors year on year but 25 per cent of people surveyed yesterday said they didn't think their experience could be improved.
First-day figures showed the demographic breakdown as 44 per cent aged 26-45 and 39 per cent aged 46-60.
And the main reason for people coming to one of the biggest occasions on the Westcountry calendar - it's a great day out. So said 69 per cent of those surveyed on what may well prove to be a record start to the 2011 Show.
